This website was developed as part of my Degree Project. I was interested in the evolution and internationalization of graphic design. I chose to investigate this through the development of the poster and compile my findings into this accessible teaching website for designers. The website focuses on the three major time periods where the poster’s globalization made its greatest leaps (France in the 1890s, Switzerland in the 1950s, and worldwide since it became digitally connected after 1990). It also looks at posters through their formal qualities and the characteristics that define them. To make it easier to find specific information the site can be navigated according to formal characteristics, time period, or narrowed down to both at the same time.
